  • Globalization has probably entered all walks of life. This is one of the main reasons why a number of universities and colleges want to add new flavors to their campus. In order to do so, they are keen on enrolling foreign students. The students certainly add charm to the campus by bringing alongwith them, their culture and heritage, further helping America to boom.

However, culture and heritage are not the only two aspects why colleges and universities are showing interest in enrolling foreign students. The recent years have not been ideal as far as the higher education administration is concerned across the country. The economy is facing a major issue and hence the tuition fees of most of the higher education institutes had gone up tremendously, leaving many of the students and their families stranded.

This has led to a number of students not applying for higher education which is further denting the economy further. On the other hand, many of the students who are taking educational loans and completing the course are not getting ideal job opportunities. Hence, the entire scenario seems to be nothing less than a nightmare at the moment.

Colleges and universities have realized that foreign students are willing to pay massive amounts of tuition fee for their education. Hence, they are a wonderful source of revenue. Colleges and universities across the nation charge a higher amount for foreign students and rightly so. Hundreds and thousands of students from different parts of the globe are keen on paying the fees and getting a seat in some of the top institutes across America.

With large amounts of revenue coming in from foreign students, the local students can reap benefits in the long run. Colleges are now looking at a scenario where the tuition fee can be reduced for local students. In order to do so, they are willing to keep more numbers of seats reserved for foreign students which will further get them more revenue.

It has been observed that majority of the foreign students belong to China. Next to China, it is India from where hundreds of students come to the States every single year. On the other hand, some of the educational administrators are not appreciating the move to enroll more numbers of foreign students.

This is primarily because most of these students decide to stay back in America once they complete the course. They are further helped by the fact that they have a degree under their belt from an America university and hence Multi National Companies are keen on hiring them. This again is leaving the local students with very little job opportunities.

Hence, many administrators believe that the situation will start improving once more funds are supplied to higher educational institutes. This will help universities to decrease the tuition fees without having to increase the number of seats for foreign students. The problem cannot be resolved alone by increasing the number of foreign students.
