  • Position Summary: The Instructional Technologist will leverage technical expertise in digital publishing, simulation development, pedagogy, and research to enhance teaching and learning experiences both online and in traditional classroom settings.



    This position is responsible for training, modeling, and assisting Faculty, Program Directors, Instructional Designers, and Subject Matter Experts (SME) in integrating educational technology to improve student achievement. This role will also assist in enhancing teaching and learning through the identification, evaluation, adoption, and integration of effective educational technology innovations into the curriculum.



    As part of the Design & Development Department, the Instructional Technologist will actively research and develop emerging technologies, innovative digital learning solutions, and strategic opportunities aimed at advancing teaching and learning initiatives. These efforts will reinforce Bellevue University's leadership in educational innovation and enhance its competitive edge.



    Essential Functions:

    Conceives, creates, tests, and delivers teaching and learning technology applications for standalone use, as distinctive learning objects, and/or for integration into Learning Management Systems (LMS).
    Keeps current with new educational technology solutions and offers comprehensive consulting services to university departments, faculty, and leadership for effective implementation.
    Collaborates with IT and LMS Administrators in testing and developing new educational technology solutions.
    Utilizes technical proficiency to offer training, documentation, and workshops on instructional tools and technologies, ensuring adherence to accessibility and compliance standards.
    Promotes collaboration by facilitating knowledge sharing and comprehension of web-based educational technologies and opportunities among various departments and stakeholders.
    Assists Instructional Designers in the modification and/or implementation of curricular content, such as those developed within Adobe Captivate, Articulate Rise, and other learning and/or digital publishing platforms.

    Position Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Major degree areas preferred include Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or Education.
    Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the design and development of training or academic courses required.
    Ability to interact and work effectively with faculty, administration, staff, internal and external clients, and students in a collegial and multicultural environment.


    Skills & Abilities



    Experience:

    Minimum of five (5) years experience applying adult learning principles and various instructional strategies with ability to identify and implement an effective combination of learning approaches.
    Demonstrated expertise in digital publishing, simulation development, pedagogy, and research, with a focus on integrating educational technologies into curricular development.
    Knowledge of online hosting and server technologies, including streaming media protocols.
    Experience providing training and support to faculty and instructional designers in higher education settings desired.
    Strong understanding of instructional design principles, pedagogical theories, and best practices in online and blended learning.
    Experience with a variety of LMS platforms from a variety of user perspectives, including student, instructor, administrator or technologist, and developer.
    Proven evidence of leadership in academic planning, program development, and evaluation.
    Familiar with web accessibility, security, and compliance standards and resources.
    Strong attention to detail, with demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
    Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, and audio/video scripts.


    Computer Skills:

    Knowledge of other digital publishing platforms such as Articulate, Captivate, iSpring, etc.
    Experience working with streaming media platforms (ex. Kaltura) and streaming media protocols.
    Experience working with extended reality (XR) environments in an educational setting desired.
