  • JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Financial Coordinator provides fiscal oversight for budget, accounting, recovery operations, reporting and record keeping for Lab Animal Care Unit.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Contributes to the efficient handling of accounting, bookkeeping, and auditing functions for Lab Animal Care Unit (LACU) to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
    Performs account analyses and provides reports generated from the IRIS system; monitors and balances departmental and recovery accounts.
    Reviews, verifies, and approves invoices and internal transfer vouchers in IRIS.
    Assists in yearly budget preparation; develops, assembles, and compiles data and reviews all expense projections for accuracy; prepares departmental probable for mid-fiscal analysis.
    Maintains personnel and position records in IRIS; modifies all personnel changes and upgrades in IRIS; prepares hiring forms, authorizations, and terminations.
    Collaborates with LACU husbandry management staff to develop framework purchase orders for animals, chemicals, PPE, and other stand husbandry supplies.
    Reviews and trains personnel for work assignments and makes recommendations.
    Assists in billing processes and tracks recovery operations.
    Assists in accounting and personnel processes for other research support operations.
    Reviews and approves all biweekly and monthly timesheets.
    Performs other duties as assigned.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Fiscal Planning, or related field of study. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

    EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience with accounting and/or bookkeeping; OR a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal five (5) years. (Experience in supervision of employees, knowledge of grant applications, UT budget preparation and accounting systems, policies and procedures preferred.)



    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    · Excellent skill in Microsoft Office to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

    · Efficiency with spreadsheet creation and manipulation.

    · Ability to use IRIS UT Integrated R/3 Information System.
